]]>Well the weather this year seems to be dragging on and on. I am sure getting tired of the snow, so when we get the occasional day of sunshine and warmth, we try and make good use of it. This particular warm day, we decide to go out and get our guns sighted in. Who knows when we may need to use them, but just getting out with friends and family is well worth it.
It seems everyone likes to shoot my 7mm, it is pretty accurate. If it doesn’t hit something, I must admit it is user error. Sometimes that can be hard on your pride!!

]]>The post Vanguard B62 Bi-pod Shooting Stick Product Review appeared first on Heather Moore.
]]>The Vanguard B62 Bi-pod is a very stable shooting stick with many appealing features. The head has 3 adjustments which you can lock with the push of a button. The head of the bi-pod will adjust at an 80,120 and 160 degree angle. It has grooved rubber arms that grip your gun barrel so it doesn’t slide while you are finding your animal in the scope. The head swivels 360 degrees for quick set up on your target. The Bi-pod has cushioned hand grips, rubber or metal-tipped feet, deluxe lever leg locks, a center leg lock, and detachable snow shoes.
Folded Height-28 3/4 inces
Extended Height-62 5/8 inces
Weight-1.41 lbs
Quality-Vanguard has thought of many different features on this product to make it a very good quality bi-pod. From the ease of movement of the head swivelling 360 degrees to the 3 head adjustment, this definetly makes it easier for gun barrel placement and accuracy. The padded hand grips on the legs of the bi-pod are nice, so on a cold day your hands can grip and not slide around. They also don’t get so cold as they would on bare metal. The legs seem very sturdy and are made of three section aluminum alloy. The legs slide easily up and down and lock just as simply. It is quick to adjust the leg height, which is so important when you are trying to get a shot on your game. Vanguard has also thought of the different terrain senarios a hunter may be in, so having your choice of rubber or metal feet on the bi-pod is wonderful. Also, having the removable snow feet is nice when you are doing some winter elk or coyote hunting. Nothing has been left to chance on this bi-pod, all the functions you need are right here for you. It feels much more stable than a one-legged shooting stick.
Reliability-Vanguards PRO B62 Bi-pod seems to be extremely durable and reliable, and it has a 5- year warranty. It feels very sturdy and simply made, it seems as though it would hold up well in any hunting situation.
Price-This retails for $59.99 and is well worth the price. When I compared the price to other well known brands of bi-pods, the PRO B62 seemed slightly less expensive. This creates the impression that is a well priced item for all the features you are receiving on it.
Referability-I have many friends and family that are avid hunters and spend more than 120 days in the field. I would definetly recommend they use this product. It is well made, moves easily, and the fact that is offers multiple shot angles is invaluable.
Score/Rating-I give this a 4.5 out of 5 rating. There is always room for improvement, like a push button adjustable leg, but other than that I think this is a fabulous bi-pod. I really enjoy using this bi-pod.

]]>I have a cousin that means the world to me. He has had a tough battle over the last few years. I would have to say he is an amazing fighter, and I am blessed to have him in my life. He was diagnosed with kidney cancer last year, and went through a huge surgery to remove the infected kidney. This year, he got sick again and ended up in ICU, we didn’t know if we would lose him. But he pulled through, and even though his other kidney failed and he is on dialysis now, he still is putting up a great fight. So, when the Shamrock Run came up on a list of runs to sign up for, I did it with the thought that I was going to run this race for Eddie. I just started running in January and this race was a 15k. I didn’t know if I could make it, but was willing to give it a try. Luckily my friend Deanna signed up with me, and without her by my side I don’t know if I could have finished.
Deanna has a shirt printing business and after I asked her to come up with a shirt for the run for us, she made me so proud to wear my shirt in the race. This was completely and 100 % for Eddie, who each day teaches me the meaning of strength, courage and waiting on Gods help in all that I do. I wish we could stamp out cancer, but if we can’t lets stand behind those people out there fighting it everyday to stand strong. Give them the encouragement to fight, and pray daily for them to have peace in all aspects of their lives. This is a hard disease that affects so many out there. I pray one day we can find a cure, but until then I pray Eddie and all those in his position will “Fight The Good Fight!!!”
Isaiah 40:28-31
Do you not know?
Have you not heard?
The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom.
He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak.
Even youths grow tired and weary, and your men stumble and fall;
but those who hope in the Lord
will renew their strength.
They will soar on wings like eagles;
they will run and not grow weary,
they will walk and not be faint.

After we arrived at Lake In The Dunes, we unloaded and talked with the owners Russell and Tonimarie Scott. They are a great couple and they explained all the fun we were going to be having that weekend. They had started by setting up the 13 station clay course. We made out way out there and tried different scenerios. Some were easier than others, and some I just couldn’t hit to save my life. I think the girls really enjoyed themselves at this, and we were able to get a feel for our guns. Most of us had new guns, usually I use an old Mossberg pump, but for this trip, my sister-in-law and I got treated to our new Stoger’s.
The cold and wind started to set in, so we headed back to the cabin to warm up and make some dinner. We tried to make sure we got an early nights sleep that night, we had a long day ahead of us on Saturday.
Saturday brought with it overcast skies, but not to cold out. We could not have asked for better weather, unless we could ask for summer to be here. So, we started off with Russ and Mike going over the days hunt, and then we headed out into the field with Lexi and Hagen. With six girls there, we tried to split up into two groups. When the birds started to fly, shotgun shells filled the air. We all got a crack at the birds and each got to bring some home.
After hunting for the morning, we made out way to the ponds for some fly fishing. Russell raises his fish there at the preserve and stocks the ponds with some nice size fish. We all tried our hardest to land one, but it was sure hard. They were jumping all around us, and I finally got one on, and just before we were able to net it, it broke my line and got away. Not more than a few minutes later, Toni hooked a really nice one and she was able to get it in the net. It was pretty exciting to see how happy it made her, and she was the only one to net one. Good job Toni.
We were all hungry after the days events and made out way to the Cowboy Dinner Tree. Those folks cook up a wonderful down home meal. It is out of Siver Lake and is well worth the drive. You will never be able to eat everything, and you will take home enough food to make another 2 meals. We had a group of us there enjoying the food, fun and friends.
The next morning we finished out our hunt with a few more birds down. We packed up and headed out. We had such a fantastic time and can’t wait to return next year. Thanks to SHE Safari for the hats that each girl got to take home and to Jeremy from Pursue The Outdoors for the donation of the Bone Collector knife that Becki won.
