A few months ago we booked a sturgeon fishing trip at the sportsman show.\u00a0 I thought it would be fun, but wasn’t overly excited about it.\u00a0 As the days grew closer to the trip, I grew a little more excited for it.\u00a0 I really didn’t know what to expect.\u00a0 We drove up to Cascade Locks the night before and stayed at a hotel with some friends.\u00a0 We had a great time visiting and getting ready for the early morning ahead.\u00a0 We didn’t know how good the weather would be, but we were armed with our rain gear and we were ready for the adventure.\u00a0<\/div>\n

The next morning proved to be a bit drizzly.\u00a0 At least it was warm out.\u00a0 We met with our guide Duane at the boat launch and packed all of our gear onto the boat.\u00a0 It was going to be a fun filled day with our friends on board.\u00a0 We got seated and headed out on the Columbia.\u00a0 The scenery was spectacular.\u00a0 I have not seen such beautiful waterfalls and lush green hills in a long time.\u00a0 I just sat in amazement on the boat as we drove up stream.\u00a0 Duane was trying to find us some schools of fish.\u00a0 Finally, after about an hour of searching for a place to fish, we found the sweet spot.\u00a0 We cast our hooks, ready to take our prize.\u00a0 Soon afterwards the game began.\u00a0 It was so exhilarating to get a fish on, and boy do they put up a fight.<\/p>\n

We each kept track of the fish we caught, and my friend Merideth and I were in the lead.\u00a0 What do you know, the two girls of the boat were out fishing the men.\u00a0 That made it even more of a challenge for us to out fish these guys.\u00a0 The fish just kept coming.\u00a0 I was having the time of my life, I can’t believe I didn’t do this sooner.\u00a0 We were the loan fishing boat in the area, no one else had found a spot like ours.\u00a0 We knew we had better take advantage of this.I stopped fishing a few times long enough to get some picturess of the others, and then my stomach was hungry too.\u00a0 We had to get some brauts in us, so we had enough energy to keep catching those sturgeon.\u00a0 We made lunch and then continued the game of cat and mouse.\u00a0 I don’t know if the rainy weather helped us, but the fish didn’t quit biting.\u00a0 That made it quite a bit of fun.\u00a0 The guide also did a good job of keeping us entertained.\u00a0 He was a great guy, that we will be going back to again.<\/p>\n

In the end, the girls lost out to one of the other guys, but we took and tied for a close second.\u00a0 Nothing wrong with that.\u00a0 In 8 hrs we caught 36 sturgeons, only one keeper,but it was still fun all same.\u00a0 It opened up my world to a whole new meaning of fun.\u00a0 I booked another trip and can’t wait to do it again.<\/p>\n
