Bowl Dam Run"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>My friend Deanna told me about this run that was starting at her father&#8217;s gym on Super Bowl Sunday.\u00a0 I wanted to do it, but knew there would be a lot of good runners there.\u00a0 I gave in and said I would, I thought it would be good preparation for the Shamrock Run in Portland that I am doing March 13th.\u00a0<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_2948\" href=\"http:\/\/www.outdoorblog.net\/heathermoore\/2011\/02\/14\/super-bowl-dam-run\/olympus-digital-camera-2\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-2948\" day, the skies were blue, no clouds in sight.\u00a0 It wasn&#8217;t even very cold.\u00a0 Deanna, my husband, and I got ourselves stretched out at the gym.\u00a0 I had a million butterflies in my stomach, as this was my first official run.\u00a0 There were people there I recognized and my husbands old wrestling coach was present as well.\u00a0 He was running with his wife, who had just qualified for the Boston Marathon.\u00a0 She was doing this run in preparation for the marathon.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Finally at 9:15am, it was time to load the buses and head up towards the dam.\u00a0 They would drop us off and someone would announce the official time to start.\u00a0 The time keeper announced 5 minutes to starting and I was even more nervous.\u00a0 I knew I could do it, I had done a run in the canyon near my house the previous weekend, and I did fine.\u00a0 I think it was just because this is all new to me.\u00a0 Soon, the time keeper announce 1 minute, followed by 30 seconds, and then &#8220;GO&#8221;.\u00a0 We took off at an steady even pace.\u00a0 A lot of the pack went on ahead of us, but we figured slow and steady would get us to the finish line.\u00a0 We had some people in front of us that set our pace, and we knew mid way that we wanted to catch and pass them.\u00a0 We passed one of them on the up hill and the other headed downhill.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_2950\" style=\"width: 590px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a rel=\"attachment wp-att-2950\" href=\"http:\/\/www.outdoorblog.net\/heathermoore\/2011\/02\/14\/super-bowl-dam-run\/100_6436\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-2950\" class=\"size-large wp-image-2950\" src=\"http:\/\/www.outdoorblog.net\/heathermoore\/files\/2011\/02\/100_6436-580x386.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"580\" height=\"386\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 580px) 100vw, 580px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-2950\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Just coming down the hill making a pass<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Pretty soon I heard some cheering and realized some friends of mine had come and were standing in there truck bed yelling and cheering us on.\u00a0 That pumped us up and I knew we didn&#8217;t have to much further to go.\u00a0 I knew I could finish in a respectable time, and I was pretty pleased.\u00a0<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_2951\" style=\"width: 590px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a rel=\"attachment town, and saw the orange cones that directed us to the finish line,\u00a0 we put it in high gear.\u00a0 Our adrenaline pushed us the extra distance and we sprinted to the finish line.\u00a0 We were pretty proud to learn we finished toward the front of the pack.\u00a0 I was very happy about that and was already getting anxious for my next run.\u00a0 Portland we will be coming for you
