Jeff and Jane headed to the other side for more\u00a0&#8220;lip rippen&#8221; action looking for some heavier bruins!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.pursuetheoutdoors.com\/field-journals\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/12\/workin-the-dock.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-520\" src=\"http:\/\/www.pursuetheoutdoors.com\/field-journals\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/12\/workin-the-dock.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.outdoorblog.net\/outdoorcallings\/files\/2008\/12\/workin-the-dock.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.outdoorblog.net\/outdoorcallings\/files\/2008\/12\/workin-the-dock-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>All hands gather at\u00a0the dock where fish had been surfacing to try their luck with a variety of lures. As you can see, Jeff is experiencing a little struggle trying to hang on to\u00a0Walter. Once the excitement\u00a0calmed down\u00a0we\u00a0decided to graduate to another lake in search of fish with a little more\u00a0shoulders. As we loaded the rigs for\u00a0departure the girls felt it was time to relax in the sun while enjoying lunch.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.pursuetheoutdoors.com\/field-journals\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/12\/lunch-time.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-522\" src=\"http:\/\/www.pursuetheoutdoors.com\/field-journals\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/12\/lunch-time.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.outdoorblog.net\/outdoorcallings\/files\/2008\/12\/lunch-time.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.outdoorblog.net\/outdoorcallings\/files\/2008\/12\/lunch-time-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Now this was no ordinary trout fishing day &#8211;\u00a0this was father daughter day and &#8220;quality&#8221; time with the kids enjoying a beautiful weekend at Maury Mtn Ranch. After lunch\u00a0the group headed to a lake where I knew\u00a0we might be able to convince my 18 year old daughter Robyn\u00a0to\u00a0give fly fishing a try. Once arrived, we\u00a0snuck up\u00a0to the\u00a0water\u00a0where Robyn\u00a0made her first cast attempting to present a wet fly. Now that Robyn had become a master at flyfishing, Jeff and Jane were on the other side having a hard time keeping fish off their hook!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.pursuetheoutdoors.com\/field-journals\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/12\/jeff-with-3.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-526\" src=\"http:\/\/www.pursuetheoutdoors.com\/field-journals\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/12\/jeff-with-3.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.outdoorblog.net\/outdoorcallings\/files\/2008\/12\/jeff-with-3.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.outdoorblog.net\/outdoorcallings\/files\/2008\/12\/jeff-with-3-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Jeff started realizing the fish\u00a0in this lake\u00a0run a little heavier. Ends up the group fished the pond for about an hour\u00a0catching over\u00a0a dozen\u00a0trout. One great memory\u00a0about this trip was that the fish were hungry and willing to hit lures, flys and bait so the kids\u00a0had a great time\u00a0learning differnt techniques.<\/p>\n<p>Finally the\u00a0hour came\u00a0when the sun began to\u00a0fade into the west when I knew fishing at the upper lake would prove to be a challenge\u00a0offering\u00a0trophy sized trout.\u00a0We drove up the gravel road looking for wildlife and as we began to approach the next lake where\u00a0I warned everybody\u00a0how the fish\u00a0are\u00a0smart and wise to shadows, noise and splashing. The strategy for this lake\u00a0is to\u00a0move quietly and make one cast\u00a0allowing the\u00a0bait to sit\u00a0where shadows\u00a0won&#8217;t spook em.
