Quail Unlimited hailed the landmark Supreme Court ruling Thursday that Americans have a right to own guns for self-defense and hunting-the justices’ first major pronouncement on gun rights in U.S. history. The court’s 5-4 decision by Justice Scalia determines authoritatively that the Second Amendment of the U.S. Constitution guarantees an individual’s right to keep and bear arms.

“We are extremely pleased with the high court’s ruling that confirms the 2nd amendment as an individual right, not only does this support the hunting community, it also protects the right of other law-abiding citizens to own and use firearms for recreational use and personal protection,” said Donnie Buckland, Senior Vice-President.

“History has shown that prohibited gun restrictions have had no effect on curbing crime, in fact, just the opposition is true. Again, we are pleased with the high court’s decision to uphold the 2nd amendment and maintain law abiding citizens’ individual right to keep and bear arms,” added Rocky Evans, Quail Unlimited President.
